Mommy Gets Her Smile Back is the story about Leah, a little girl who learns about depression, how it affects someone she loves and how it is managed after her mother becomes depressed and cannot take care of the family.
As Leah’s mother struggles with depression, Leah is left feeling confused and scared. She doesn’t understand why her mother can’t get out of bed or do the things she used to enjoy. Through conversations with her father and other family members, Leah begins to learn about depression and how it can affect someone’s mood and behavior. With the help of a therapist, Leah’s mother begins to manage her depression through medication and therapy. As her mother starts to feel better, Leah begins to see glimpses of the person she used to know and love. Eventually, her mother is able to resume her role as caregiver and the family begins to heal. Through this heartwarming story, children can learn about mental health, depression, and the importance of seeking help when someone is struggling. The book offers a message of hope and resilience for families who may be facing similar challenges.

I hold a Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Temple University. With over two decades of experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families, I am a licensed psychologist and clinical social worker. My training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, combined with a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, enables me to address a range of challenges including depression, anxiety, phobias, and OCD. I can also help navigate issues related to relationships, life transitions, grief and loss. By creating a safe and judgment-free environment, we can work together to identify your strengths and achieve your goals.
